Karen got her start in engineering by following in her drafter dad’s footsteps, from whom she learned to relish the challenge of problem-solving. Now, with more than 30 years of experience, she enjoys puzzling out cable tray routes and determining outlet locations within a prescribed built environment, as well as approaching clash avoidance as if it were a 3D chess game. Her extensive experience with data centers makes her a great asset for the many clients with complex projects served by the TEEm.
It’s no mystery why Karen is hooked on mystery books… but how does it relate to her love of baking? Karen’s favorite mystery author is Joanne Fluke, who writes the Hannah Swensen series, in which a small-town baker solves perplexing crime puzzles while offering up delectable recipes. The combination is dangerously delicious.
Hitting the Road
Where do you find adventure? For Karen and her boyfriend, it’s the adrenaline rush of exploring National Parks or NASCAR tracks. On vacation jaunts the fearless couple have climbed to the top of Half Dome, explored the Blue Lagoon in Iceland, and participated in the Richard Petty Driving Experience, where Karen drove a NASCAR at 150 miles per hour around Daytona International Speedway.
Karen loves photography, no big fancy camera required. Her passion for portraiture finds its best expression in spontaneous cellphone shots. Her favorite image was an accident: while trying to take a picture of her niece, she accidentally zoomed in too far and captured just her eyes and the top of her head. Instant art!
