Our vast processes can be a challenge for new engineers when they join the TEEm. Kenneth’s goal is to streamline and distribute them to enable TEECOM to operate at peak efficiency. Kenneth fine-tunes the TEECOM work processes by disseminating knowledge, adopting new tools and templates, and improving the work environment. His effective TEECOM processes eliminate the need for employees to waste time “reinventing the wheel.” As the PMO Director at TEECOM, Kenneth has managed multiple large scale projects, including Salesforce.com¹s global expansion, overseeing all IT operations.
The Human Experience
Whether Kenneth is traveling for work or pleasure, he always finds time to do three things: understand how people live, learn the history and culture of the natives, and explore what that country has to offer. Kenneth is fascinated by the human experience. Getting to know locals where he visits lets him imagine what his life would be like if he grew up there. He’s learned that, regardless of geography, people are the same everywhere he travels: they eat, they breathe, they go to work, some have issues, some don’t, some love their life, and some don’t. “People are people,” he says. When Kenneth isn’t learning about local culture, he is having an adventure on the land: biking, canoeing, scuba diving, sky diving, or exploring. New Zealand is his favorite place to completely disconnect from technology and savor his surroundings.
Connecting to the Environment
To say that Kenneth is an avid bicyclist is an understatement. Mountain biking, road cycling, and unicycling are how Kenneth keeps connected to the environment. When he isn’t in the office, he is usually alone with one of his 11 bikes exploring the roads and trails of his Marin neighborhood. Kenneth says biking lets him practice “living in the moment” by staying focused on what is happening at that exact second.
Managing Stress Through Meditation
As a practicing Buddhist, Kenneth seeks to understand the human condition. Self awareness, self management, social awareness, and relationship management are at the core of emotional intelligence and they are ideas that Kenneth applies in his personal life as well as in his role as a Project Manager. Managing large and complex technology projects can be overwhelming and stressful at times. Meditation is his way to mitigate that. Kenneth says 10 minutes of sitting in silence helps him get through the day, and helps him help the people on his team get through their days too.
