BlackRock iShares Headquarters
San Francisco, CA
Overview
Located in the Foundry Square Building I in San Francisco’s SOMA district, the BlackRock iShares (formerly Barclays Global Investors) headquarters encompasses 300,000 sf. From the initial design phases, BlackRock iShares staff members articulated a precise vision of their requirements, which included a highly reliable and available network and an integrated technology approach.

Benefit to the Client
TEECOM designed two fully redundant technology rooms (mini data centers) with multiple levels of resiliency and back up. In the rare instance that one technology room goes down, the N+1 failover will kick in and is fully capable of supporting the entire building.

TEECOM’S Contribution
TEECOM provided design, construction administration, and project management for telecommunications and security systems for the building. As a fully raised-floor facility, special care was taken to coordinate all under-floor cabling with other services and the air highway. TEECOM partnered with BlackRock iShares to develop the network design and determine how it would interface with other BGI facilities. The large open floor plan allowed for flexibility and seamless technology integration. This project exemplified a corporate headquarters/office building project with completely integrated technology systems.
