Calexico, CA

Calexico Station Calexico Station

OverviewCalexico Station

The U.S. General Services Administration (GSA) is renovating and reconstructing the existing Calexico West Border Station, a Land Port of Entry located across the international border from Mexicali, Baja California, Mexico, in order to improve operations and security. The Calexico Border Station is a major port of entry, with some 18,000 pedestrians and 17,000 privately operated vehicles crossing on a daily basis. The new renovation includes three primary buildings: the pedestrian port of entry building, the central administration building, and the vehicle port of entry building.

Calexico Station TEECOM’s Contribution

TEECOM was brought onto the project to provide the technology infrastructure for the facilities and to improve the security, quality, and operational capacity of the border station. TEECOM’s design for the border station includes telecommunications, security integrated with the holding cell’s audiovisual system, and PBX.

Behind the Walls

The existing land port of entry must remain operational during construction, therefore the security system was designed to meet the needs of a multi-phase renovation. After each phase is completed, the corresponding segment of the security system is enabled. Careful consideration was placed on the design of each phase so the users could seamlessly migrate to the new security systems with minimal downtime between their existing and new security systems.
