Blending Technology & Architecture
Through Carolyn’s architectural background and relationships, some of her former coworkers recruited her to TEECOM. Now as a BIM Specialist specializing in massive-scale data centers, Carolyn enjoys blending technology and architecture design. Working in Revit and studying building plans feels like home to Carolyn, so learning the technical telecom diagrams is an interesting challenge that she’s quickly mastering.
Weaving on her loom, crocheting, and knitting are Carolyn’s forms of meditation. The cross between problem solving and repetition is soothing. Plus, the tangible results of making textiles with her hands is extremely satisfying. Carolyn makes blankets for her sister’s kids, wall hanging tapestries, plant hangers, and sometimes she creates an item just to take it apart and start over.
Carolyn adopted Rainey, a Whippet/Shepherd mix, from an organization called Unidos Para los Animales that rescues dogs in Guatemala–non-purebred dogs are frowned upon in Guatemala. From time-to-time, Carolyn now fosters dogs through the organization as well. Words that come to mind when Carolyn describes Rainey are bed hog, huntress, and quirky princess.
Every chance she gets, Carolyn heads to the coast for a day hike and the hopes of seeing whales. November and May are the prime months for whale watching and Carolyn eagerly awaits those months to observe the massive, mysterious creatures. When there aren’t any whales around, Carolyn heads to Tomales Bay to soak up the sun and enjoy a bag of oysters.
