Dustin’s interest in electrical engineering and music composition led him to the AEC industry. With over 12 years as a telecom, security, and audiovisual engineer, Dustin’s ability to collaborate well with clients, external contractors, and other engineers makes him an excellent team player and an attentive engineer. Dustin works on industrial manufacturing facilities that require a high level of coordination due to complex routing of systems pathways in environments congested with multi-discipline piping and structures.
In his free time, Dustin dabbles in building and soldering circuits together. He likes to experiment with building effects pedals for guitars, as well as studio preamps and compressors. His future projects include building a modular synthesizer aimed at creating ambient textural music.
Man of Many Bands
Dustin picked up his dad’s guitar as a kid and has been in love with music ever since. As a multifaceted musician, Dustin plays the guitar, bass, drums, and keyboards. Although he’s currently narrowed down to just five bands, over the years he’s been a part of over 30 bands ranging in genres from rock, to jazz, as well as Celtic and latin styles. In addition to making records and studio time, Dustin says the most exciting part of being in a band is performing live in front of a large crowd.
Dustin got into trail running four years ago when his brother introduced him to ultra-marathons. This year Dustin has completed three 50k races and has a goal of finishing a 50-mile race next year. He is motivated by the sense of accomplishment of crossing the finish line, while also knowing he is capable of persevering through the races each time. Dustin does not believe that training is essential for these marathons and takes the time to meditate and reflect as he is out on his own for seven to eight hours each run.
