Maria designs security systems, conducts security assessments, and is growing TEECOM’s New York office. She started her career as an integrator in the security industry out of an interest in technology and engineering. Maria soon became a certified CPP and took courses in construction and project management. She helps fully develop her clients’ ideas and is passionate about taking the time to further educate them on the latest industry trends in order to match the right solution to their needs.
Having been a New Yorker for over two decades, Maria appreciates just about everything the island has to offer, and feels especially spoiled by the diversity of cultures, activities…and food. She says the best way to explore the city is to eat your way through it, and is always looking to find the next great, unknown restaurant. Her most recent adventures have included everything from insanely delicious ceviche in Manhattan to shuffleboard in Brooklyn. Recently, her favorite event in the city is Midnight Summer Swings at Lincoln Center, where people come dressed up to dance outside under the stars at the storied cultural center.
Born and raised in Venezuela, Maria grew up within a close-knit family and culture. Since moving to New York and starting a family of her own, she and her husband make an effort to spend time with their extended family in California, Arizona, Venezuela, Florida, and Iowa.
Maria loves the variety of experiences she can have through travel. Her favorite places so far have been Italy, Thailand, and Cambodia. The history and architecture of Italy thrilled her, although the pasta, wine, and cured meats were the real highlights of her trip. Maria admired the temples and architecture of Thailand, and how they bring the country’s spirituality to life. Her most cherished destination was Angkor Wat, Cambodia, where she explored the ruins of thousand-year-old temples amid the jungle. Maria also sneaks in travel while visiting family in the US – from national parks in Arizona, to warm beaches in Florida, to exploring the coastline of California.
