From Ideas to Results
As Marketing Assistant at TEECOM, Rebecca works on projects ranging from client proposals to the recruitment and on-boarding of new team members. She was drawn to marketing as a collaborative and creative profession in which ideas yield valuable results. Rebecca is motivated by learning more about the AEC industry, acquiring new skills, honing her creative process, and seeing projects come to fruition.
Outside of work, Rebecca likes to immerse herself in nature and community. She enjoys volunteering for environmental organizations in her local community such as Rotaract, participating in beach clean-ups, planting trees, and finding ways to reduce her own carbon footprint. She frequents Santa Cruz, visiting places like Henry Cowell Redwood State Park or exploring smaller trails along Highway 9. On these excursions, she is often joined by friends or likes to make new friends.
Inspired by artists like René Magritte, Frieda Kahlo, and Toyen, as well as contemporary artists like Matthew Stone and Pierre Schmit, Rebecca is drawn to the Avant-garde form of art, including Surrealism, which is based on the subconscious and influenced by ideas of symbolism. Her favorite motto is, “Art is meant to make the comfortable uncomfortable and the uncomfortable comfortable.” Rebecca also enjoys the experience of painting, from first dipping the paintbrush to seeing the final product.
Growing up in India has helped Rebecca realize the influence people’s roots have on their identity and how geography and history shape the way different cultures interact. She appreciates the way traditions and languages bring people together. Rebecca studied anthropology in school and continues to educate herself on the subject. She also learns about other cultures through travel. In the future, she plans to visit Egypt, Morocco, and Italy.
