Palo Alto, CA

Overviewprojects_content_lpch-02

The Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital (LPCH) expansion adds 521,000 sf of building space and 149 patient beds. LPCH is staffed by physician-scientists from Stanford University School of Medicine. The need for a robust technology infrastructure was recognized from the beginning. The hospital represented a major upgrade in information systems and medical equipment.

The hospital encloses over 3.5 acres of gardens, where Movie Night in the Emerald Garden is held on warm evenings. Thanks to an entertainment system of TEECOM’s design, with a huge inflatable movie screen, patients, visitors, and families are able to view movies from the lawn in rows of terraced seating.

Benefit to the Client

LPCH’s high standard of care and research puts incredible demands on the telecommunications infrastructure and network in a hospital environment. In addition, all of the hospital’s IT systems converged onto the network. To satisfy these demands, TEECOM designed the telecommunications infrastructure using a standards-based approach to support all systems from legacy to the latest technology. The cabling plant was designed and built for the most rigorous and high-bandwidth applications the hospital could foresee, with room to grow. Throughout the hospital, digital wayfinding, patient room technology, Real-Time Location Systems, and a child-friendly broadcast studio enhance the daily lives of patients in a worldclass care environment.
