Swedish Medical Center Issaquah Campus
Issaquah, WA
Overview
As the largest hospital project this region had seen in 30 years, the Swedish Medical Center brought the community of Issaquah, Wash., into the next generation of healthcare. This 550,000 sf hospital is not only ahead of its time, but was completed ahead of schedule. Phase I of the new hospital included the medical office building, the Swedish Cancer Institute, an emergency department, pharmacy, laboratory, imaging center, and 8 retail stores. Phase II, which included the 175-bed inpatient hospital, opened in November 2011.

Benefit to the Client
By planning and investing in robust and pervasive core technology infrastructure, TEECOM helped save Swedish from costly renovations in the future. The location-based wireless footprint is a prime example of investments made today that will enable new possibilities for tomorrow.

Behind the Walls
When TEECOM was brought into this project near the 11th hour (DD phase), we inherited inappropriately sized technology rooms. Without the ability to design outwards, we decided to design upwards. Instead of the standard seven-foot equipment racks, each room received nine-foot equipment racks, ladder included. This innovative approach saved Swedish and the entire design team from significant change orders and contributed to the project staying on schedule.
