UC Merced Science and Engineering Building 2

Overview
The Science and Engineering Building 2 is the second building accommodating instruction and research programs in the School of Engineering and the School of Natural Sciences at University of California, Merced. The Science and Engineering Building 1, completed in August 2006, is a 175,000 sf research and teaching facility. The project design team utilized UC Merced’s master plan and architectural design guidelines from Building 1 as the framework for Building 2.

TEECOM’s Contribution
TEECOM was hired as the integrated technology consultant for the new science building providing telecommunication, security, and audiovisual systems. The building supports open class laboratories, research laboratories, laboratory support, scholarly activity, study facilities, and academic and administrative office support spaces.

Behind the Walls
The audiovisual systems in the Science and Engineering Building 2 provide large format multimedia technology located in conference rooms, wet laboratories, and service learning rooms. Audiovisual systems include projection, audio, video, control, and rich media capture systems that stream presentations over the network.
