Wireless Inspection Cameras – A New Tool For Project Site Walks

Recently, I was tasked to do inspections of data devices in ceilings on one of our project sites, the UCSF Medical Center at Mission Bay. As an engineer, we are often tasked to identify the cables that are often hidden in high and hard to reach places. In this task, we needed to verify if cables were terminated or not, and to determine if cables were pulled to the location as specified in our drawings. To help me with this task, I used two tools: iPad with Plan Grid App and the Wi-Fi Wireless Inspection Camera from Oasis Scientific, Inc.

Lessons in Technology User Interface Design

TEECOM’s Oakland office is practically on top of the 12th Street BART station, so it just makes sense to give our staff a convenient way of checking train departure times. And while there are lots of real time BART information displays, this one is uniquely ours. Starting with an existing open-source project, we improved the functionality by making the signage readable from across the office.
