Planning for the Future of Technology
Alex keeps our TEEm and our clients up-to-date with the latest technology, from the hottest smartphones to the latest Ethernet standards. His research enables TEECOM to keep clients informed about how technology is expected to evolve over the life of a project. Planning and thinking about the future is particularly important on extended timelines: technology will advance by leaps and bounds in the time construction projects go from initial concept to doors open. On the development side of R&D, Alex’s team works to develop new experiences for the built environment through custom software. TEECOM’s practice groups collaborate with the Research Department to augment engineers’ knowledge, maximize long-term design flexibility, and ultimately save clients money.
The best thing about Alex’s job is that every day brings something new.
When Alex isn’t fixing, driving, or racing his car, he is watching Formula One drivers race theirs. A die-hard fan, he never misses a race. With only 20 races a year, 22 drivers, and 10 teams it is easy to stay on top of the drama as it unfolds all over the world. No wonder it is the most-watched sporting event after the World Cup. Alex says he’s fascinated by the drivers, and considers their cars—engineered on extreme budgets to push the g-force limits—to be the pinnacle of engineering.
Understanding How Things Work
Alex has always had a passion for building things. LEGO has been a persistent passion as far back as he can remember. From space shuttles, to giant cranes, no LEGO set was too challenging or too complex. 20 years later and Alex has taken to the digital world and his latest challenge is building the complex systems that power TEECOM’s socialbuilding® platform concept.
Under the Hood
As someone who loves to fix things, Alex fell easily in love with cars, starting with his father’s 1968 MGB. At 16, a 2-wheel-drive automatic Jeep Sport changed his life. He spent hours fixing it up, learned exactly how everything fit together, and even pondered becoming a mechanical engineer to make a career of his passion. Today, Alex enjoys fixing, driving, and racing (on a track, of course) a Honda S2000.
