All In for BIM
Growing up in El Salvador, Edgar learned about construction by shadowing his dad, a GC on housing subdivisions. He moved on to be a construction project manager on commercial buildings. Learning AutoCAD introduced Edgar to a 3D environment and he moved on to the BIM world through Revit. Revit’s capabilities bring Edgar’s experience in construction and drafting together. He loves the ability to coordinate disciplines in one model, to virtually build the building through time, and resolve issues before they become reality.
Swim to Win
Three times a week, you’ll find Edgar swimming freestyle in his local pool. He’s been a swimmer all his life. It started out as a way to help him keep in shape during the soccer off season, and he still thinks it’s the best form of exercise. It also may have saved his life: once at a beach, Edgar was dragged out to sea by a strong current. He started panicking, but calmed himself by thinking, “You know how to swim, relax,” and floated until the current released him and he was able to swim back.
Edgar started riding motorcycles in his 20s to facilitate his commute, and it became a passion. He loves the freedom of the weekend road trip. He’s traveled to Yosemite, throughout Nevada, and regularly scales Mount Diablo (in his own backyard) on his bike. “All the Bay Area is nice to ride, everywhere is amazing,” he says.
The Great Outdoors
Another advantage of the Bay Area: it’s full of great hikes! Edgar regularly hits the trails at his favorite “hidden gem,” Briones Regional Park, a 6,117-acre regional park in the East Bay Regional Park District system near Pleasant Hill, California. Briones has everything, he says: rolling hills, wildlife, and views out to Martinez and Diablo Valley.
