As a child, Kevin loved to draw. His grandmother, who helped develop the transit system in St. Louis, suggested he might enjoy learning CAD, and thus began his journey into drafting software. Eventually, he went to school for architecture, and then decided to switch to audio engineering. His role as BIM Specialist at TEECOM combines all of his areas of expertise under one roof, from tech to audio to drafting, a synergy that keeps him passionate about our client’s projects.
Drawing on Talent
Kevin also continues to draw by hand on the side. His biological father used to draw, and he got that bug as well. His favorite thing to draw is portraits, and his favorite style is realism, very vivid and colorful. “Facial recognition is my strong suit, although I can’t remember names,” he says. Two of his best pieces, a self-portrait and a Siberian white tiger, are drawn in colored pencil. “That creative energy is still within me for sure,” he says.
Mixing It Up
Audio engineering is still a huge part of Kevin’s life as his side gig. His home recording studio sports six record plaques from his grandfather, who was in A&R at Motown — including records from Janet Jackson and Bobby Brown. Kevin works with musicians and recording artists, and also has a beat website where he sells his own music.
Kevin got the business bug from his mom, who sold him on the psychology of marketing, and he says entrepreneurship will always be part of his life. “I’m interested in what makes people tick so I can serve them better,” he says. Studying psychology has helped Kevin’s own self-awareness, too.
