A Man of the People
As Talent Acquisition Director, Tommy brings top talent to TEECOM. He recruits, sources, and meets with qualified candidates to ensure they are the right fit for our company culture. Tommy is passionate about people and networking. He understands that a new job is life-changing and makes sure to fully acquaint candidates with expected roles and responsibilities. He connects with people by taking the time to truly understand who a person is and what they do. The ability to stay in touch and continue a conversation comes naturally to him. Although recruiting within a confined market can be challenging, Tommy finds his job exceptionally rewarding.
Tommy has been intrigued by politics since he was a kid watching the George H.W. Bush and Bill Clinton debates on TV. He went on to study Political Science at the University of North Texas, partly because of his ambition to be more knowledgeable about the world around him, and because he enjoys people. From volunteering, Tommy learned that if you are not speaking up, someone else will. He respects each individual’s beliefs as long as they make a positive impact on society. He believes it’s every American’s civic duty to speak up and follow the John F. Kennedy motto: “One person can make a difference, and everyone should try.”
Born and raised in Dallas, Texas, Tommy is passionate about three things: family, whiskey, and barbecue. You can find him at home on most weekends spending quality time with his wife, daughter, seven dogs (all rescues!), and cat. Whether it’s tennis, a competitive board game, or a video game, the Lopez house stays busy and entertained. The family spends their favorite holidays together at Disney World, where Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster is their favorite ride, as it features Aerosmith, Tommy’s favorite band.
In his free time, Tommy loves both watching and playing golf. He feels it’s a great way to escape and disconnect from technology while on the golf course. Although his swings aren’t quite up to par, he still enjoys going out to the course once a month to get a few holes in with his friends. Tommy first watched Tiger Woods play in middle school and was fascinated by the methodology of the game. Above all, Tommy appreciates the individuality of the sport, as he believes it’s a test of both physical and mental capabilities, requiring a great deal of concentration and strategy.
