Oakland International Airport Terminal 2 Extension
The Oakland International Airport Terminal 2 Extension project included the renovation and extension for a 2-level 108,000 sf concourse building, which serves 7 domestic narrow-body aircraft and will be integrated into an International Concourse serving 3 wide-body aircraft under separate contract. The airport’s Airport Development Program inputted numerous improvement plans, titled the Terminal Improvement Program, throughout the airport to meet the increasing passenger demand. The expansion and remodeling of Terminal 2 was part of this new program. The expansion included new baggage claim areas and construction of new vendor and retail areas, as well as seismic upgrades. In addition, major improvements were made to the terminal’s curbside/roadway areas.
TEECOM provided the design and construction administration of the IT systems for the Oakland International Airport Terminal 2 Extension. This included full design of all IT systems, both wired and wireless, and construction administration support services. TEECOM was subsequently chosen by the Oakland International Airport to design all special systems for the Airport’s designed-but-not-built parking Garage/Customer Service Building project. TEECOM provided consulting, programming, design development, and construction documents services for this complex, multi-team project.
Benefit to the Client
When it comes to airport interiors, frequent changes are made due to changes in airline tenants, food vendors, or retail space. Because of this, TEECOM included flexibility in our design of the ‘special systems’ so that Oakland International Airport can accommodate changes with minimal disruption to base-building technology systems.
