Symantec Chengdu
Chengdu, Sichuan
Overview
Leading the technology innovation and design within Symantec’s Research and Development Campus in Chengdu, China, the 320,000 sf office building was an eye-opening experience for our design team. After providing integrated technology design services for the Symantec Culver City Campus, our team had the expertise to serve the client. Specialized labs and conference rooms, however, were the only two aspects of the Chengdu project that mirrored the Symantec Culver City effort.

Behind the Walls
Sustainability: Symantec is committed to the sustainability imperative, and fully embraced an opportunity to go global-green with the Chengdu campus. TEECOM’s role was to design a converged network as a common platform for all systems and brilliant data center design, reducing power and cooling demands.

Lessons Learned
In order to be successful, TEECOM was forced to quickly come up to speed on the inner workings of collaborating with international government agencies. Translating all documents into Mandarin was one first-time project hurdle; the elaborate telephone translation game was another.
