UCSF Medical Center at Mission Bay
Challenge
UCSF Mission Bay Medical Center’s new center houses a 183-bed children’s hospital, a 70-bed cancer hospital for adult patients, a specialty women’s hospital with a 36-bed birth center, ambulatory care services, central utilities, and support facilities. During construction, the staff’s ever shifting needs presented a challenge from construction completion to full building occupancy.
Solutions
All of the technology systems at UCSF Mission Bay Medical Center were carefully planned to increase the quality of patient care and create a soothing environment that supports healing, safety, and well-being. Our technology designs incorporate elements that enhance patient safety and operations efficiency.
Through our collaborative efforts with UCSF and the California Office of Statewide Health Planning and Development (OSHPD), our team achieved over $4 million in savings for the project. These savings were largely produced from two critical areas of innovation: leasing out the DAS at zero expense to UCSF while delivering ubiquitous connectivity to users, and specifying non-plenum-rated cabling in various areas of the campus.
Our on-site construction administration services provided continuous agile response to the needs of the staff during the transition from construction completion to full building occupancy.
