Challenge
Adding Technology to Existing Hospital Floors
With the addition of an Advanced Comprehensive Cardiac Imaging Suite, the technology demands of the space increased significantly. This required additional cabling to support the department. However, the existing space was already crowded with telecom cabling. To address this challenge, our team had to work closely with the architect, CHLA’s IS team, and the low voltage cabling contractor to ensure the suite could support the capacity needed to operate the new technology.

Multi-Disciplinary Coordination to Optimize Healthcare Technology Systems
Close collaboration with all project stakeholders during the design and construction phases led to the project’s success. During design, our team provided value engineering strategies, which reduced the number of low-voltage boxes needed for the suite. A core aspect of TEECOM’s methodology is always to ensure detailed project documentation, which proved to aid the team in smoothly handling RFIs during construction, ensuring the project remained on schedule.

About
Children’s Hospital Las Angeles (CHLA) expanded its cardiology program and needed space for a new Advanced Comprehensive Cardiac Imaging Suite on the ground level of their Duque building. TEECOM helped retrofit the space by providing design services for the telecom, audiovisual, security, Wi-Fi, and radio systems.
